Our Super Summer!

We are Miss Hoffmann and Mrs. Zollinger (a.k.a. Mrs. Z) and we're ready to show you how to leap all challenges in a single bound and sling webs on any villains that get in our path. We can't wait to get to know you better and hear all about your summer fun. Here is a few highlights from ours for you to check out.

Miss Hoffmann's Super Summer Summary:
I started this summer off with a bang; jumping on a plane and traveling to Europe with my sister.  We began our trip in Paris, before heading to London, and finishing up in Ireland.  Paris was beautiful, as usual.  My sister is an art history buff, so she gave me my own guided tour of the Louvre (a famous museum) and it was the best trip through that museum I have ever taken!  Honestly, in the past I have dragged my feet, shuffling past portraits and sculptures, nodding politely, but my sister knew all sorts of back stories that really made the trip memorable.  We ended our stay in Paris by meeting up with Mrs. Z and her husband for dinner!  It was so nice to see each other in a foreign country.
I studied in London during college, so I was anxious to get back to one of my favorite cities!  We saw several plays, ate delicious food, saw the sights, and ended our stay there with...wait for it...the final Harry Potter Premiere!!!  I am a huge fan of the books and was so incredibly excited to be there for that moment in movie history.  What a blast!

We woke up the next morning and jumped on a plane to Ireland.  I thought my Harry Potter fun was complete, but boy was I wrong!  We flew to Ireland on the same plane as the Weasly twins and Luna Lovegood (if you have never read the books or seen the movies this may not seem like a big deal, but trust me, it is!)  The rest of our trip was spent exploring Dublin and the coast of Ireland.  My sister and I had never been to Ireland before, so we didn't know quite what to expect, but we had a wonderful time!

After several weeks of travelling, we were anxious to get home.  I was especially excited to see my pride and joy; my puppy Hobbs!  You will hear all about him this year.  He is such a cuddly, funny little man!  Here are some pictures of him that I just adore.  In one he is nibbling on his paw (so precious) and in the other, he fell asleep with his nose on the crate bar and it ended up making him look so funny!

Mrs. Z's Super Summer Summary:
This summer was action packed. In June, I headed off to Europe with my husband, Mr. Z, for our honeymoon adventure. We visited London, Paris, and Amsterdam. My favorite was definitely Paris. I loved attempting to "learn" the language and riding bikes all around the city. Of course, I just had to buy a bright pink beret to wear around the town! Here is a picture of my husband and I at the Eiffel Tower. In the evening, it is magical! Tiny twinkling lights light up at random up and down the tower; it looks like giant, sparkly diamonds dancing! Another cool thing was seeing Miss Hoffmann's familiar face when we were so far from home. I still can't believe we were there at the same time.
Something I didn't enjoy so much was a dinner where my husband convinced me to eat snails, which are a traditional French appetizer. To me, they tasted kind of like extremely chewy mushrooms covered in sand and butter...bleck! I'm glad I tried it, but I probably won't be eating them again.

In July, I visited with my family. My sister, Rachael had just had a baby named Murphy and she wanted me to be his Godmother. I was so scared I would trip when I was carrying him up the aisle during the baptism, but no worries, everything worked out just fine! Phew! Here's a photo of the little guy listening to music for the first time.

In August, my mom challenged me to make a quilt with a sewing machine I got as a gift but had never used. I was pretty sure it would take me until next August, but as my family joked about how long it would take me and poked fun about how I would give up, I decided to show them a thing or two. While Miss Hoffmann watched t.v. on my sofa and cheered me on, I sewed that quilt in four days. It's not perfect and there are a few crooked lines, but it's warm and cuddly and perfect to me.
Check out my design. I adore polka dots!

Well, that sums up some of our summer fun. We can't wait to hear about yours, but if you just can't wait to share it with us at school, go ahead and post a reply with some of your stories. We look forward to hearing from you!!!
